The challenge
The Angels Initiative is a global healthcare programme focused on improving stroke care, with a digital platform serving doctors, nurses, healthcare professionals and hospital administrators across multiple regions. As the programme grew, the limitations of its existing systems became harder to work around.
The platform needed to support complex multilingual content, global accessibility and a growing library of training material, while still giving healthcare professionals an engaging and practical learning experience.
Operating across 18 languages added another layer of complexity. Content structure, translations and learning modules had to remain consistent across regions without creating a separate system for every market.
The Angels Initiative needed a platform that could support that level of scale while remaining flexible enough to evolve with the programme over time.
Our solution
Our work with The Angels Initiative developed over a seven-year partnership, with three developers dedicated to the account on an ongoing basis. That continuity allowed us to treat the platform as a product that could keep evolving as the programme expanded.
We designed, built and managed a Training Management System capable of delivering structured learning content across 18 languages, with the flexibility to support new modules, regions and requirements as they were introduced.
The platform also had to balance technical complexity with usability. Translation management, content architecture and administration all sat behind an experience designed to make training straightforward for healthcare professionals using it across different countries and contexts.
A major part of the work was the migration from Drupal 8 to Drupal 9. Years of multilingual content, training structure and functionality had to be carried across without disrupting the experience for users or the teams managing the platform.
The migration modernised the technical foundation while preserving the content and systems the programme had already built, giving The Angels Initiative a more sustainable base for future development.
